Breast Clinics during COVID-19
NHS Breast Clinic appointments are still available for 'priority 1' cases - such as finding a lump in your breast. These appointments need to go through your GP.
Appointments for problems such as pain in the breast are currently suspended. There are different arrangements in place around the country, and so you should contact your GP for help.

Lester Barr - Consultant Surgeon
Lester trained at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, and has been part of the breast cancer specialist team in Manchester since 1996. He is currently working at the Christie Hospital and the Spire Hospital in Manchester. He runs a 'one stop' breast clinic at Spire for women with breast lumps or other symptoms on a Wednesday and Thursday, and he also consults at the Christie Clinic on a Tuesday where he runs a 'second opinion' service. All cases are discussed at a multidisciplinary meeting so that you have a team approach to your care, and this may include treatments available through the latest clinical trials. His particular areas of special interest are onco-plastic breast surgery, breast reconstruction, and breast cancer prevention.
Lester is chairman of the charity Prevent Breast Cancer, which in partnership with the NHS built Europe's first purpose-built Breast Cancer Prevention Centre at Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester, under the same roof as the Nightingale NHS screening centre. The team that Lester helps to lead is convinced that prevention and early diagnosis are the way forward to protect the next generation from breast cancer.
